Dear Parent/Guardian October 21, 2016
The weather is getting colder, especially in the morning and then warming up in the afternoons, (as I am sure you know), please dress your student in layers. There will be a PTO meeting on Tuesday November 1st at 6:30PM in the CES library. All are welcome and they are eagerly looking for new members. If you have any questions you can email Tomi Ellsmore at email@example.com. The PTO is hosting a family game night on Friday, November 18th from 5:30-7 PM at CES. More information to follow.
The yearly Scholastic Book Fair will begin November 7th through November 17th. The school receives a percentage of the sales which we use to purchase new books for our library.
Cub Scout Pack 132 is having a food drive on November 5th. Please see attached flyer.
REMINDER if you are low on gas, or need to top off your tank, today from 4-6PM at the North St. Iriving, CES will receive 0.10 per gallon of gas sold. What a way to kill two birds with one stone… you get your needed gas, and support CES at the same time.
Red Ribbon Week, (drug Awareness week), will kick off this Monday, October 24th. There are dress themes daily. Monday is wear red day, (the daily dress up themes are attached). There will be a kick off assembly at 8:30AM right here at CES followed by a police escorted parade of students, and our band, walking around the block. Please make sure your student is dressed for the weather and walk. If you listen to WQDY you will hear Public Service Announcements regarding this important information recorded by our students.
Red Ribbon dress up will be extended to October 31st which is “teaming up against drugs” and students are encouraged to wear sports team clothing. Thus, Halloween costumes should be kept at home to wear after school hours.
Mondays lunch menu has changed. It was chicken pot pie and now it is macaroni and cheese and hot dog.
The students have been relentless in asking for a school dance. As painful as these are for me, we have scheduled one for Thursday November 10th from 6-8PM. This dance is for grades 5 & 6 students only. Further dances will depend on the success of this dance.
A reminder that dismissal is at 2:!0. We appreciate it if parents wait outside for their students. Too many parents in the entry way at dismissal time makes it very confusing especially because the kindergarten students are also out there. Alos, a reminder that if you are inside the school, please do not open the door for others. Our goal is to keep your students safe.
Thank you for your commitment to our school and students. Have a great weekend.
